You know, or you've heard that higher levels requires a lot of mental strength, that it's a 'mind game'. But most students I talk to aren't really aware of what that means for them practically. They think this means "I'll have to work harder.". (Newsflash... it doesn't! It means you have to work DIFFERENTLY. VERY differently.) This session allows us to chat about your study challenges, habits, approaches etc. Based on this, I'll give you stuff to think about in terms of your prep and study approach. We'll talk about what you need to change, both in your thinking and mental approach. We want to give you a positive, strategic approach that allows you to approach 2020 with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose and hope. I'll also give you some stuff to read, watch and think about. It's important that you understand what's causing your stress and anxiety. We'll talk a bit about your study habits. We won't spend too much time on this, because you can only change your habits if you change your mindshift, and that's the most important thing. But we will discuss how your mindset affects what you choose to study and how you choose to study EVERY DAY! Ie: this is a not a 'feel good', motivational discussion that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy without a practical tool.
Most students plan the next year thinking "I'm going to work harder than I did last year". For new, higher levels of studying, or for subjects they're repeating, this often isn't that effective. When the year starts, the time goes so quickly, that you don't really have the time to build a new strategy, when you realise that yours isn't quite getting you there. It's best to do this before you start studying, because you won't have time to think about your emotions, mental space and mindset when you jump into the content. I want you to think about non-subject stuff for a bit.
I'll mail you after you've completed the above form or registered online. We'll discuss what you're studying and whether a session can help you at this time. * We'll schedule a time for our session (I have sessions available in working hours, as well as after hours and weekends for my part time students) * Once you've paid and sent me a proof of payment, I'll send you a meeting link to use for our session *You'll need a good internet connection, webcam and decent earphones, so we can see and hear eachother clearly *Click on the link 15 minutes before our session to check all the 'tech' stuff, and we'll get going!
I use a free app called Zoom. It's free to download. When we're chatting, I can share my screen, and I'll make notes as I chat, so you have notes to take away with you of the stuff we've discussed. I'll ask some questions about your challenges, background, and from there, we'll talk about what's going on in your head, what you struggle with, and we'll take it from there.
